Thoughts on a decent 8" bench grinder

Hi,
I'm in the market for a decent 8" bench grinder as my current one is gradually shaking itself to pieces. I'm forever dressing the wheels and fiddling with it to try and get it to run right/smooth

It'd be nice to get for one with the balance weights built into the arbour washers, so I can tune it as it wears down. Single phase.

Willing to spend a bit more to get a decent one, but only one arm & a leg, not two

What you got or recommend?

I have an Elektra Beckum about 10-15 yrs old, great bit of kit, never needed it fix it to the bench, quiet and vibration free

If you are not knocking lumps out of the stone they should be self balancing.

Are you sure the wheels are true and centred? if it wears out and doesnt keep balanced, its got a heavy spot somewhere or maybe off centre. If they are running off true they'll wear out of balance too.
Ive had that when a wheel hasnt been centralized on the shaft itself due to a sloppy fit between the stone and arbour...

Not too difficult to make your own grinder, shaft cover on mine is an old fire extinguisher, it will take 12" x 3" grinding wheels, but I can't find anywhere that sell them so had to settle for 12" x 2".
