is this welder any good? im only a hobbyist so wont be welding over 5 mm probably so would this welder fit my needs ?

and im confused if it will weld aluminium or not its a ac/dc machine and to my very basic Knowledge ( this would be my first tig welder ) it should but the web page says "all types of steel and alloys" does alloys mean aluminium??

any help welcome even if it point me in the direction of a different welder for around the same price

Yes, its AC & DC, so will weld aluminium too.

I've the very same welder, had it for about 16 months now and it's been great. I've done up.to 5mm aluminium with careful prep, although I'd really say it's happiest on up to 3mm.

Steel I've welded down to 0.6mm. Couple of days ago I put down 2.4m of 3mm lap/fillets in mild steel, took something like 1.5 hours of continuous welding, except for the odd stop to let the air cooled torch cool down.

Haven't done any stainless yet, but as a TIG beginner, I've found it to be really good to use, and one niggly problem I had early on, R Tech's technical guy talked me through the simple fix on the phone.

So did it come through that I like this welder!
