can this hose be trimmed down and use a hose clamp /jubilee type clamp instead?

got some slight damage to the hose but dont want to cut it off if i cant rejoin

If it's a barb or similar under there, not a problem. I've redone a few connections that had those crimped sleeves, and not had any problems so far.

Which style are those? I tend to use the screw type fuel line clips for those small hoses. A bit bulky, but a firm grip.

Hose clip will be fine but if it's on the end that screws into the head they might be in the way on heads with deeply recessed plugs.
The Heat shrink with the hot melt glue on the inside will even do instead of any type of clamp

The proper ferrules and tools are cheap as chips, most old school motorcylcle shops keep them .

They are what I now use. Far better than small worm drive clips.

If it's not to read it's max shown pressure, you could try self-amalgamating before you butcher it?

Another alternative is double eared hose clamps, there is a special tool for closing them but I just use my bench vice works just ss well. Use them on all my pneumatic hoses. easily purchased off eNay.

i need to try those those double eared ones get on my wick sometimes they pinch the pipe no matter how careful u r

Clips should work, unless it's leaking in the middle of the pipe.

I have had 2 of those Gunsen gauges.
The first one went back as it would leak past the pressure release button.

The second is still going strong nearly 20 years on.

yeah already have one of those i made earlier ...will give it a try
