Afternoon all,
This forum is great, thanks to all of you for the input.
I'll be welding up my Range Rover of 1983 vintage, and my mate will be doing the same on his 89. Almost all of the work will be on the steel body shell. The panels are mostly Birmabright, so I cannot see me welding, or attempting to weld those...
I have recently got a SIP (I know, I know
) 170DP. In the box was a disposable CO2 bottle, regulator and Euro torch. I'm going to throw out the handheld shield as it is only useful for spectating right? BTW, no instructions in the box, but I have got a set on PDF from SIP, who were very helpful, though they are not specific for the 170DP, but are for the other models. Anyone wants it, it is 3MB, let me know?
I have asked my local AP shop to get in touch to quote for bottle rental.
From the forum I reckon I'll be using 0.6 wire with Argon/CO2 gas, right?
There is a used roll of gasless wire on the machine now. Bin it?
Is it worth me spending the £30 on the eBay http://tinyurl.com/2yzuab shields, or should I be looking at a helmet more like this http://tinyurl.com/bbcv8?
I cannot wait to get started but need to make some practice welds first and I cannot do that until I know I am protected!
Thanks again!
