Hi
I just wanna ask, I got this sheet metal which has industrial paint on it - its this kind of paint on thhe picture..
I will be using it for repairing a section of another car oil sump, although its easy to weld (when u just strip the coating off the edges) - should I strip all of it? I just tried its resistance by dippin it in a solvent - it got brittle for a while (culd strip it with my nail) but became solid after a while again.. then in boiling water (simulate boiling oil) it kinda stayed the same (tho i culdnt strip it with my nail, its shade got lighter...
do you think I shouuld gett rid of the whole coating - so it wont be disolved in oil by time (and that crap gets where it shouldnt?) or these industrial coatings are rigid enough and hot oil wont do much harm to it (well solvent surely did...
thank you
