This gas supplier a fair price?

Hi,

I've been looing around to see how much Argon is for when i do some TIG welding.

Phoned a local place and they will do the following:

an 'X10' bottle 2.38m3
£60 + £14.95 for the gas bottle + 27p a day rent.

all plus vat.

Thats about 2300 litres of gas?? How big would the bottle be and how heavy?

Sounds ok to me?

10 litre at 230 bar possibly.
If it is, I have a 10 litre diving bottle and its not that heavy.

only 10 litre? is the quoted volume the amount of gas that will come out of the bottle? and that equates to 10 litres of liquid?

Is it expensive? Should I try somewhere else?

not 10 litres of liquid, 10 litres of gas, at 230 bar.

10 Litres x 230 bar = 2300 litres x 1 bar.

i.e. 2300 litres at atmospheric (1 bar).

Just had a quote from BOC and it works out to arond £135 a year (for one bottle)

The quote i had from the other place works out to £200 a year for one bottle.....

Got a bottle from HSS hire shop.

£68 + 5.80 (+ vat) for a 4.7m3 bottle from BOC. No contract. delivered! Cant say fairer than that!
