Thermal Arc Tigs. Any Feedback

Looking to buy a Thermal Arc welder from a South Coast company and after some Feedback.

Any pro's or con's of owning one of these units?

I've been using one for a few months now........

The good..a very stable arc in both ac and dc, easy to set-up and use, nice range of controls for ac and gives very good results with ali.

The bad...it's broken down twice but both time it was fixed withing a couple of days.

I tested it along side a Kemppi MasterTig and the Thermal arc was the much better machine. If i was buying new i think the only thing i would take over this is a Dynasty. (a lot more ££££ though)

If you don't mind buying second hand this is what i would buy. These machines are the nuts.

I used a Thermal Arc 200 AC/DC last year, absolutely cracking set with a very clean stable arc. I'm with you Craig on the Dynasty, we have a Dynasty 200DX at work, arguably the best portable Tig around today.

I think flange jockey uses terminal arks but he could make the cheapest Chinese machine look good I'm a lorch and myself. I hate machines that breakdown the always let you down when you really need them

I'm with you Craig on the Dynasty, we have a Dynasty 200DX at work, arguably the best portable Tig around today.

There's currently a Dynasty 350 + water cooler on ebay and at the moment its at £1750 with 90mins left to go. This is a 6 grand set-up new.

The 200 ac/dc gtsw is a cracking set. 2 year warranty and grat output characteristics. It is one of the good thermadyne machines built in Japan. If you are looking at the Electrosta machine you should look elsewhere if it is top quality you need.

Anybody know if Thermal Arc and Hobart are connected?

Thermadyne bought the American Hobart machine factory and offer some of the old products. These are now badged as thermal arc.
I.T.W Bought the italian Wemi company that produced some machines for Hobart and still market them as hobart. I believe that ITW got the wire and electrode part of the company HOBART Brothers..

I have a 200 acdc and well pleased with it.......and has lots of bells and whistles, only problem is the guy using it.

its a 3 year warrenty too

Fronius magic wave2200 - nothing will touch it, I trialled a thermal arc - did'nt like it, the miller dynasty would be nice, but so would 6K
