Thermal arc 161 240v

Used this set on site today, my company got it on hire. Had some 5" flanges and a few 4" butts to weld. Decided to bring a bag of 13amp fuses as well. I really didn't think it would have the capability of burning a 4mm rod without blowing a fuse.

Gotta say I was impressed with it. Ive used similar makes before that are always popping the trip switch or always blowing the fuse and have to wait for the set to cool down. But this set ran really well, no problems at all. Welded the flanges with the 4mm's like a dream! Id recommend this set if anyone was looking to buy a decent little 240v MMA inverter.

I've got a 175se, top quality for £200. And a decent myaking electrode holder, rather than a crocodile effort.

The tig / stick switch is a pain though, its too easy to accidentally flip over, I think a mod is in order there now the warranty has run out.

Iv a 175te and loads of lads I know have the 175se iv used a fair few and I use mine a lot and I can't recommend them enough thermal arc are definitely one of the best inverters iv used

Yeah really can't fault this for a basic MMA set. It's dual volage, can't comment what it's like on 110v, but for 240v I would defo recommend it.

The on/ off switch could be on the front as well.

I've heard inverters don't like being unplugged instead of switched off, certainly running off generators.

A lot of companies take on this machine because it's a very tried tested little inverter. It's got a lot of different clothes badges and colours but it's the same machine underneath.

I'm borrowing a 175te at the minute and its lovely, has hf dc tig too! Tempted to buy one tbh to use on jobs away from the shop.
