Just a word of caution and some advice. We have a lot of speciality scientific gasses that we use at work. These are all stored a a couple of gas cages that have been correctly fitted and securely locked.

On Wednesday night some scum bags cut open the cages and stole all the aluminium cylinders. Many of these contained highly toxic gas. We suspect that the gas will be vented and the cylinders weighed in.

In already tough times this is a bit of a show stopper for our buisness

Just a word of warning to watch out. We had done everything correctly in a locked compound with CCTV yet still the scum bags got through. So far police are involved and the cost of the gas alone is around £6k and we are waiting to find out the cost of the replacement bottles.

Bad luck - scum as you say. Let the local yards know what has been stolen and that the contents are toxic.

Your business insurance should not only cover the theft, but also the loss of business caused by not having the speciality gases.

I'm surprised we never lost any of our Propane bottles (for gas fork trucks) as "travellers" caravans run on it.
We did lose some scrap out of the big skips until we had some covers made that needed a fork truck to remove, we even saw a couple of women drive up in a hatchback and throw some scrap in the back and disappear before we could stop them, got the reg on CCTV and gave it to police but car was not registered
