He worked in the tempering vats where the wires were drawn to their final diameter then pulled through molten vat of lead. His arms where a mass of scars where hot wires had whipped. But they did give him a bottle of milk to counteract the lead poisoning
He told me that they used to sprinkle bags of asbestos onto the lead to keep the heat in, double![]()

He corked it in his early 80s, much older than I thought he would attain. Although he had emphysema, amongst other ailments, it was complications from a stroke that got him. He didn't do much workshop wise for the last 5 to 10 years, due to I'll health, the last thing I helped him with was putting the fine threads of his Velocette Venom's clutch on while fighting the clutch springs.how old was he before he passed and was he in good health![]()
