The price of propane.

I've just been to replace the 6Kg bottle of Calor propane I use on my caravan.
At the local branch of Go outdoors I purchased a replacement for £18.22 only to find when we went outside to the store "cage" they didn't having any 6Kg bottles, payment duly refunded.
We have a branch of Calor about 3 miles away so I decided to do the changeover there instead. However I was just a little taken aback when they charged me £20.24 for the privilege.
How does that work out, Go outdoors told me the were waiting for a delivery of re-filled bottles from the local Calor depot.
One things for sure I won't be going direct to Calor in future.

you can do it legally iff you get one of those genie type bottles...made out of fibreglass and inside a padded cell..good thing is there see through so you can see how much gas you have..bad bit is the initial bottle cost

Amazing isn't it, autogas including the full vat rate works out cheaper than gas at the reduced vat rate for heating and cooking!

They want £40 for 19Kg of Propane in sunny South London, last year when road fuel fell by 20 odd percent Propane went up from £34 to £40.

I would do away with the 6kg cylinder and go bigger it works out cheaper and you wouldn't need to refill so often

thats because theres a handling charge every time u exchange even though it wont show. so u get ripped off every small bottle refill

Unfortunately not an option the bottles have a purpose designed cubby hole in the caravan. Decanting from small to large might be one way round it.

I've got a branch of propane gas supplier near me on the dock road its about £20 without a 6KG bottle and £15 refill exchange bottle.

I have a hose that allows me to refill 6kg bottles from 47kg. Takes a while but massive saving on 6kg prices. Mate bought an adapter to fill his caravan bottles via autogas points but got caught out and can't find anywhere else local to use so also now also refills from 47kg bottles. When we worked it out 47kg bottles are cheaper per litre than autogas. Same doesn't apply however to smaller bottles such as 19kg where autogas is cheaper per litre.

what you need is a gas conversion tank in the car in fill it then fill the 6kg from there
