Any idea where I can buy some? or what their proper name is?

Been trying to find some on eBay as I'd like to get some to sort out all of my spare drill bits but the only ones I managed to find were £10 for 5 which seems a bit pricey for an empty box!

Any engineering places by you? Ask if they have any - my old place used to throw them out when they re-stocked the drill bits.

Look for Telescopic Plastic Tube manufacturers, give a few a call. Depending on how many you want they may give you some samples.

I was given a load by a place in Carlisle when I asked where you get them from. They had a huge boxful.

A good option is that mesh stuff that you can expand over the tap/reamer/whatever.
It means you can cover the business end and chuck in a drawer knowing they won't damage eachother.

Not as robust but you can see what's inside em without opening
