The curious case....

...of the missing shortcut. On my Android tablet I have the BBC Weather app installed. I find it gives a pretty good indication of the local weather and check it daily in the a.m..

Today, there was an update waiting [among others] so I allowed it to do it's thing and did some other stuff. I now find that the 'desktop' shortcut to the app has disappeared, although the app is still there and can be accessed. How do I get a shortcut back - do I have to uninstall then load it again? It's a mystery why the 'icon' disappeared in the first place....

If the icon is visible when the "Apps" icon is tapped, press and hold the icon and drag it to the home screen. Make sure there is a blank space for it to go into first, else it wil be grouped with another icon, which can be sorted, but bound to cause confusion!!

It might be a widget? Press and hold and see if you get widgets as an option.

Can you see the weather app on anyscreen?
It varies on my Huawei and galaxy.
On my Huawei i click and hold on the place I want the shortcut.
It Then let's me choose an app.

On my galaxy its not the same..... edit.
I just checked. It has a + on the screen I wish to.place a shortcut. Then I can select the app I need to add a short cut too.

As you were, folks. I just uninstalled the app, waited a while and re-installed it. All back to as it was before, complete with short cut. I have no idea what happened or why, but there's much in life I don't understand so I'm not going to try to work it out.
