There was another prog with that Alan (the name is familar) from Nottingham who did some shows with Tommy whatsisname

I think it was called Narrow Boat

Always fancied having a go myself. I once did up a 23 Seamaster Cruiser and it took years of weekends.

The attraction to this series is that he is going to use old methods to rebuild the narrow boat.

In the first episode he is going to build an 18th century blast furnace in order to cast an iron pot.

One of the next model narrowboats i make i wanted to try welding it should be fun.

I've always liked Guy's attitude and think this program can only increase his fan base. We should be thankful he's still with us after his TT accident last year.

I liked the programme as well and i have something in common as well the love of stationary engine, you might think that is sad for a 15 year old but i do have other hobbies like cars

smelting??? did they extract the metal from the ore . thats what smelting refers to . or did they re melt the lron in a furnace

As far as I could see they put basic ore into the furnace, so that would be smelting ? They did add scrap to the modern furnace to help remove the slag.
