Nice find. Not cheap then. The weight is crazy for the size.
The 3 jaw surprised me. Not seen a 3 jaw independent before, but then I don't know much about lathes.Nice find. Not cheap then. The weight is crazy for the size.
Nor me.The 3 jaw surprised me. Not seen a 3 jaw independent before, but then I don't know much about lathes.
I think I have one or two of those lying around.Best chucks are Charles Taylor lathe chucks. Unfortunately out of production now but are considered the best world wide. I collect and restore Taylor chucks. A range of sizes and combinations from 4 1/2 ins up to 20 ins. Only downside was they are twice the wait of others. I have a reprint of the Taylor chucks booklet.

Nothing wrong with that mate. Pratt do make very nice chucks. What size are the Taylors you haveI think I have one or two of those lying around.
Just did a nice Rohm D1-8 10" 3 jaw. Pretty decent. Now doing a Bison the same size. Bison virtually brand new and no rust but jaws are tight. Not as good as the Pratt Burnerd or the Rohm although they have a very good name
Before and after of the Rohm.View attachment 399330View attachment 399331
Yes they are serious money.I love my Forkardt F type chuck, would love a new one but not paying the money they cost new just to put on a POS Triumph.
