I found this last week when I stopped in at friends metal yard to get some sheet metal for the mini. It looked like it had been left outside for a long time, someone had weighed it in.
It was sat on an oil drum looking pretty sorry. Spent a couple of hours on it with a wire wheel and oil'd up the moving parts.

Anybody had a find like this?

I paid £40 for it.
New ones are £700 I think for this size

that much I have a few rough ones that size only with a quick release must say they take some abuse. I've used them for pressing suspension bushings in and out.

Bought mine for £20..... And fitted it so it over hung the bench edge

Good find but why is it mounted so far back from the front edge of the bench? A vice is normally mounted so that you can hold longer bar stock etc in a vertical position without fouling on the bench.

Grrr a beast indeed. Bet it bites when you let the handle slip down and catch a finger.
my Grandpa's did that to when I was about 6, blood blisters black nails and some real proper screams.

SMART well handy tool and worth the time to fix .

I put it there as I didn't want it too far into the walkway and I figured anything long could go onto the bench or off to the side.
It's overkill for what it will get used for but I love it.
Should have my chop saw stand finished this week once I get some more box, will post up some pics of that too.
