Just a thank you to the usefull help I have recently received on having some brackets made.

A order for 30 brackets and 12 backplates has been placed with a local engineering company. Who will supply all documents with completed work.

The site will weld the brackets to the girders, so no worries for me there. If they fit them wrong it is their issue.

So thanks to those who pointed me in the right direction on having the stuff made.

It was a great help.

Upshot for me. I get to watch them being made. Then go home.

The order is over what we need in the real world. But it was 3% cheeper to have the extra made than to have the few we needed.

so what was the final conclusion?, to what spec did you get them made?
By the way, you never did confirm which BS stipulated that the detectors couldn't be bolted and were to be welded?

The beam detectors were never going to be welded.
Not the beam head, not the beam receiver not the OE brackets.
The back plates will be welded to the unusual girder work.
Then the "Z" brackets bolted to the back plates. Using 8.8 grade bolts, washers and nylocks.
The beam detectors OE brackets will be fixed to the "Z£ brackets with supplied bolts.

All detector beam fixing in compliance wilt BS8539.

Welding of the back plates to girder work is to be completed by the main contractor. So our company will not be involved.
manufacture of the brackets is done in compliance with the contract by boss has agreed with the local manufacturing company.

Who by the way have allowed me to watch today, plus allow me free access to their coffee machine.

Glad you got it sorted albeit by passing the interesting / awkward bit onto the main contractor.

Welding of the brackets to the girder work was never going to be an issue for me. As it was never part of my issue.
