Tetrosyl gunwash

I bought a gallon of cellulose gunwash made by tetrosyl yesterday, opened it today and it doesn't smell like the cellulose thinners i know of old, more like petrol. Anyone else notice this ? Dodgy batch or the new norm ?

I use tetrosyl gunwash, but don't think it says cellulose thinners on it, it is yellow and has a very strong odd smell, but works well. Also melts my rubber gloves.

Yeah, i thought it was a bit yellow, gave me a bit of a headache using it too, the smell is very strong and odd like you say.

Its not as pure as quality thinners but perfect for gunwash

With the peggy dell off it, i thought there was petrol in it, that and the colour.

that's definitely what gun wash is and cheap thinners was talking to the paint supplier at a show about it

A place I used to work had a thinners recycling machine. It basicly heated the dirty thinners, then condensed the evaporated thinners into a clean bottle leaving the paint behind.

Buy some standard thinners as well to clean the yellow stains it leaves behind.

It may well have been Tetrosly thinners or gunwash that leaked on me. I was painting some thing and the thinners[gunwash] can was at
hand, I had cleaned guns and air brushes the day before. I went out to the garage and was hit by the smell of thinners, the can had leaked
over night, dumping a few litres of thinners on the floor. I told Metalfalke and a new can was dropped off an hour later, they said it wasn't
uncommon. The picture is the bottom of the can, the bright spots are the holes.

I brought a 25L cheap thinners 6 months or so back and thought it was yellow compared to my normal 5 L decent thinners same price too

i have a tin of it just for thinning machinery paints and cleaning guns and paintbrushes. after a few month of been open its gone yellow as said the water in it rots the tin

Regarding the tetrosyl stuff, I've been using it for the last couple of years as a gun wash and it has worked like it says on the tin, no leaks, no yellow stains so no problem.

I would buy it again.

I do for a fiver a gallon or 16 quid for 5 gallons
