You can generally tell just buy smelling it and it's been sat for a while if you move it make you let it settle again just in case there is any sediment.

I appreciate fuel is through the roof but I still wouldn't risk running something suspect, it won't take long to kiss goodbuy to what you have saved if it turns out to be bad.

That's quite cheap. £2,500+ for 4 injectors and a pump on a 2.1 Merc.

Putting Methylated Spirit in will soak up the water and get burnt with the fuel.

you can get big filters that will filter out the impurities, and the water, if there is bacteria it will be caught in the filter. it normally only on newer diesel with bio added.
