The earth clamp/wire has been getting a bit too hot so thought I’d upgrade it to take the earth lead from my oxford which I have a dinse plug fitted to.
Opened up the surweld monomig to find some high quality welding on the transformer...
Anyway it’s still in one piece.
The earth lead socket was just made out of bits I had around the shop.
The old hole where the earth cable gland was....
Already doubled the csa of the existing canle in tHe above pic,
Needed some way to fix the dinse socket to the welder front plate. A 25mm conduit coupling seemed a good size, fluxed and ready for a soldering...
Needed to open up the hole in the welder, cue the step drill...
Was lacking a 25mm nut so a conduit coupler would have to do...
Attached
Cut down the rubber socket shroud and slid on (it’s upside down to allow access to the grub screw to tighten the cable).
Total spend £2 for the dinse socket.
