Terrible weather tonight

Torrential rain for hours now heavy snow. Just had a 2 hour powercut. Aga and woodburner don't care but the re imaging of our server does care! 48 hrs of work down the pan now - just hope it hasn't wrecked the hard drive again!
Electric back on - for now.

Would one of those UPS systems help.
I remember we had them on our work computers , so you could shut them down tidily if the power went down.
I only ever use the laptop these days so it's not an issue

I remember we had them on our work computers , so you could shut them down tidily if the power went down.
I only ever use the laptop these days so it's not an issue

Shouldn't need it in the house but better invest in one. Our last house was even more remote and yet we only had 2 powercuts in 4 years - here we have had 17 in 12 months!

Aye. Went to London on Tuesday morning: 7 degrees at 5am in Edinburgh, landed at Stansted at 08:30 and it was -2!

Got up at about 2.30 for a leak, looked out of the window, at a guess about 3 inches of snow. A lot of it thawed this morning. Local web sites are giving some roads closed & the gritters out. It's very wet & slushy underfoot now.

Terrible weather on the Cumbria coast too, there must have been nearly half a thou of frost on the windscreen this morning, the blue sky and bright sunshine took nearly two full minutes to clear it.

Better follow Police advice if your in the South don’t travel unless absolutely necessary, if your in the North you’ll need your top coat.

I too have one of the eBay auto-darkening welding helmets, works fine for my needs although I understand how professional welders would need better ones.

Yep, I saw 13 degrees. Got up this morning to roughly 1" of snow and the sky looks like it's holding lots more. Roll on Springtime!!
