Temporary primer to stop rust that I could overpaint with epoxy at a later date

I mentioned this in a previous thread but no one ever replied.

So the underside of my car is 70% bare metal . I've got to wait 2 weeks for my roll cage to arrive before I can weld the base plates in for it. Whilst I'm waiting I've been removing the last of the surface rust, I've been advised to use Upol weld through primer to protect the metal whilst I'm waiting

But I'm not sure if it would be alright to epoxy primer over it once I'm done. Obviously in the areas that will be getting welded it won't be but as a lot of the underside is bare metal I was going to use the Upol to protect all the exposed areas even if they aren't getting welded. Is there anything else I could use preferably out of a rattle can. I'd epoxy it now but I want to do it all in one go instead of messing about doing patches of the car.

Why not just epoxy it now and abrade as required where/when you will be welding? Nothing from a can will be as good as the epoxy, so it would be pointless putting epoxy over can stuff later on.

Don't waste expensive epoxy on it. Just get a cheap rattle can of top coat then wash it off with celly later.

the epoxy or whatever good stuff you decide on needs to be directly on the clean metal

id just use some aerosol stuff and thinners it off

Gibbs spray will protect it and just wipe off after

Alright, i've got loads of various aerosol top coats laying about so i'll use them, what would be best to remove the paint once i'm ready to epoxy it?

should wipe off with a rag and some celly gun wash

Lol, I'm learning!

I assume the U-Pol weld through primer will come off easy with the celly thinners as I may as well use the 2 cans I already bought then do the remainder with other stuff I have laying about
