Having never properly welded before I am restoring a classic Healey 3000. Floor pans and sils etc. Being in France all of the welding distributers in the UK seem unwilling to ship to me here so I am looking at the Telwin 4.165 or the GYS 162 as these are what is most readily available here. Which One though is the question. I want ease of use and reliable welding. Any advise...

The Telwin looks similar (not identical) to the Clarke 145 which sell for £180, how much are they asking for it? Just out of interest as I'd have the GYS any day (and, do, I've had a GYS 162 for a couple of years now)

Telwin is going for 315 euro, then I need 40euro for gas connection kit. Says the min setting is 30 amp. The switch just says high and low so can't be sure.. Just found that machine mart ship to France so will look at what they have. Need to order this week end as will start next week end to cut and weld..

Les Briconautes are the cheapest for the GYS 162 and spare/consumables should be readily avaiable for the Gys, my local Le Briconautes does pay in four hits interest free if thats of any use. Think the 162 is 399 euros at Les Brics. Gas at the bricos is usually ATAL in the refillable bottles and quite pricey (but all gas in France is) -think its 200 euros for the bottle and then 30 odd euros for the refill.
This outfit does a complete Gys pack, but has no easy payment plans, and I am not sure about availablity of the refills for the bottle shown.The gas supplied is Mison in this case.
