just got a message via WhatsApp demanding I contact the HMRC...as I owe tax from last year.....

FUNNY THAT, BEEN RETIRED FOR 6 YEARS....HAHAHA ......nil tax return....

if they want me they can come here n find me......

A strange area code came up on my missed calls list the other day. I looked it up: Isle of Man. I did the call back thing on my phone and a pleasant woman answered. I apologised for missing her call and asked what is was about. She insisted she didn't call and asked how I got her number. When I said it came up on my phone she said impossible - she's ex-directory. Someone spoofing her number.

For the last 12 months I've been getting emails in the spam bin from senders that I recognise including a deceased dear friend who died two years ago. The content looks highly suspicious so have resisted the temptation to open them.

Open away. Don't click on links or open attachments but viewing the email will do no harm.

There will be items, images, txt etc embedded in the email, as soon as you open it off it goes to fetch the images etc, automatically validating your email address.

Far better to set your email browser to only ‘fetch headers’ that way you can read a few lines if needed to check if its genuine. Once you know its OK, you can then d/l the whole message.
