Tapping gun

I'm trying to get hold of something like this. Like a drill, but drives thread cutting taps. Bosch have discontinued this model and don't seem to have replaced it.

I'm after an online purchase if possible, and a decent make. Anyone any recommendations on a particular model or type to go for.

would an electric screwdriver (for want of a better description) not work?
I'd be worried about snapping taps without a stable mount to the workpiece, personally;
unless you're tapping M12+? - and even then getting it perpendicular would be a pain.

We're tapping between M5 and M12.
I'll do roll taps with a cordless but its a bit brutal for thicker stuff in MS. The machines are ok for what they are designed to do, just need a recommendation for any particular brand as the Bosch one i was keen on isn't done anymore.

didn't actually mean a cordless - maybe something like a drywall screwgun, and any of the usual suspects - dewalt? Bosch blue? milwaukee?(???)

No, it needs to be the right bit of kit. We do enough to warrant buying it rather than struggling on with something else.

How about a tapping arm mounted to a lifting magnet, then it can be stuck to a bench or any large fabrications.

I've used similar at work before maybe the Bosch one, but I started using my battery Milwaukee 14.4v impact driver and have not looked back. Far less snatching and with a set of 1/4" and 3/8" drive tap holders easy to use http://www.uktools.com/tap-holder-socket-set-p-2440.html

If at home rather than site I tend to use the IR 216b air impact butter fly type as it so easy to reverse quickly. http://www.marmax.co.uk/acatalog/3_8_square_drive_impactools.html

I've used the corded and air driven tapping guns generally on M8 - M12 nice thing about them is when pressure is released they auto reverse, but using the battery driver you have to stop and switch to reverse which is when you move the drill too much and snap the tap!
