Taking wobble out of bike table

Want to take a bit of the wobble out of my bike bench / come work bench.
With the lock bars in and outriggers leveled & locked it still has some wobble at full height - aprrox 800mm, been fine for bikes but the top heaviness wobbles if doing other lateral heavy work on it.

It's got 20mm holes at each corner pictured. I could add 2 more central. Don't want the extra supports permanent so it needs to unbolt
Thinking 20mm zinc plated threaded rod, can get 10x1000 for £50, thinking in compression if straight enough should take the wobble out at 4 or 6 points?

Leveling feet wise, any ideas what I can use to screw in 20mm bar that won't cost a fortune?
Or any better ideas on a removable anti wobble setup?

I have 4x 25mm steel solid rods,tapped on the end to take 8mm bolts for each corner on mine, and just lower the table on to them..you could use these to be more precise for the bottoms if you wish if your floor is uneven.

If your bench is near a wall, try putting a couple of eye screws into the studs to attach opposing turn buckles. Snugging them up should stop the wobble. Here's a rough sketch.

Threaded studding 20 mm x 1 mtr very cheap make simple 10 mm plates with rings of steel for the cups , if you have a lathe turn a few thou off the bottom of the stud so you can pin lock it inthe cups once you've put the studding in , Add welded on 20 mm nuts for the bolt heads .

Instead of the symptom, can you tackle the cause? some diagonal bracing that's lacking as supplied would help - maybe a rectangular frame each end with a diagonal brace, use those holes to bolt them to the table top? Bolt them on, drop the table top until the frames are taking weight each end (with levelling feet if the floor's not that flat). A bit of 25x25 angle should be plenty?

...made of wire rope and turnbuckles. Then you do not need to faff around removing it to lower the table. Wind the table up and use a grubby finger as a dirty plucker to assess the tension.

What about hinging legs so you can lift the table swing the legs down and then drop the table on to the legs

Alternatively, hooks hanging on wire ropes from the ceiling

is it the bike frame or is it the height of the work bench that is wobberling

whilst the height wobble can be changed and made more stable by widening the feet a bit it will make the bench more stable

as goes for the frame i presume its based on a scissor lift if they are not angle iron you can change them to angle iron which will stiffen up the frame taking out some of the scissor wobble

been a bit honest here you would be far better off making a new work bench up

This is a good idea and would employ it but I do need access around both lengths when working on bikes.

Problem is a bit inherent in the design as the table is about 220cm long and 4 point leveling rests are only 100cm apart from the centre so when at full height 800cm with working load of heavy stuff it has some sway, the bracing and levelling itself is ok, its just the 4 ground touch points are too in the middle if you know what I mean.

That is another good idea and could work, I wouldn't be able to do wire from the ceiling for various reasons, I'd end up garroting myself anyway

Height but as said design of the ground point being too narrow. I've 2 other work benches if I replaced this with a permanent one I'd lose the flexibility of using as a bike lift.

I'm going to go this route, and 25mm round bar with those feet.

Any recommendations where I can get 4 x 1 meter cheap round bar from?, few searches on ebay and it's looking like £100 plus...

I butched mine from old railings..even 1/2 inch will do as before i used steel bar i used wooden poles and that worked too..i've had a Triumph rocket3 on mine and sturdy as hell..google rocket3 and see what i mean regarding stability problems

Wood poles was an idea and would likely work ok, just thought I'd go for something with a bit more finesse

Anyway I've pushed the button and ordered bar and feet.
Which is less than half as much as she's just spent on her mobile LEGO bench



Fair play tho, all I did was cut the wood as told, she did the rest
