Taking Gas Bottles To France

With the apparent extortionate prices in France for Ar/CO2 bottles and gas, has anyone taken UK bottles across the channel by ferry or the tunnel.

What do the ferries say to charged but inert gas bottles being shipped in cars?

Has anyone a sensibly priced source of Bottles/Gas in Southern France (Near Narbonne)?

When I brought mine over 8 years ago I was told that the Tunnel was a no no
So used the ferry.

As for reasonably priced gas in France ......good luck

almost definate no no on the tunnel.... dont even do LPG cars unless empty

You could try having a word with your local Air Liquide dealer, they may be able to sort something out for you

I had thought that the tunnel would be a NO and will get in touch with Ferry people. That would seem by far the cheapest way.

In France it is £200 to buy the 500 litre bottle then £40 per refill. That is the public shop price so expect to get a better deal on a bigger bottle somewhere. Will try Air Liquide via a local welding workshop.

I think as long as it's declared to the ships master it will be OK, you may need to find out the UN number for the gas mix for the paperwork.

We had to declare compressed gases (O2 & Entonox) when taking ambulance on ferry to IOM
