I think some of the dishwashing problem is the tablets are less effective to stop them marking glassware. At one time we used to put the teapot in occasionally, it came out scoured clean, with the tablets we've had over the last 5 years or so the teapot comes out as bad as it goes in. I used to clean bits & pieces with a tablet & boiling water, but it doesn't work any longer, tried different makes, but they are all the same

If you want to clean the tea-pot up or the inside of a flask soak it overnight in hot water and milton

or boiling water with domestos added . that shifts anything

I now use bi carb & boiling water now, cleans it in about half an hour, it was far easier to bung it in the dishwasher though every so often
