You need to CE mark them before putting them on the market.
The CE mark means that they meet the requirements of all applicable European Directives, the obvious one in this case is the Low voltage electrical equipment directive 2014/35/EU.
That Directive has been implemented in the UK by the Electrical Equipment Safety regs 2016.
The Directive or Regulations is a document that is available online, have a read of that.
In order to have a presumption of conformity with the regs you can look at European Standards and make sure your product complies, you have to buy standards though and they aren't compulsory.
Basically the items need to be safe, and you need to keep a file of evidence that you could in theory show to authorities that want you to prove compliance (may never happen). You also need to provide info to the end user, so some instructions about what to do and not to do.
You don't have to have them inspected or checked by someone else, you can self certify most things and put the CE mark on.
I'm more familiar with the detail of the Machinery Directive but reading the documents will get you started.

Following Winchmans point, a way to achieve compliance and put the CE mark on much more easily is to make it from CE marked components and follow the suppliers instructions.
You still have to CE mark the end product and sort out the documents but you are allowed to presume that the components are in themselves safe and compliant if used as instructed, means you arent trying to CE mark someone elses bits, only the assembly.
You stick the paperwork you get with the components in your Technical File and theres a lot of the work done for you.

I chucked one of those away good working orderIf you do want to test them, John Ward put up a vid a couple of weeks ago that shows how to do so.
I was so impressed with the 80s tester he uses that I bought one off Ebay last night for £65
