OK at last I repaired mine, and it was more straightforward than I thought.
By unscrewing the stripped actuator bolt, and unscrewing the thread assembly (parts #6 & #7) from the body of the splitter, I was able to push the piston and seal out from the lower end along with a slug of grease.
As the seal was now removed I could heat up the thread assembly which allowed me to unscrew the stripped female threaded bit (Part #6) from the cylinder (Part #7). Then it was just a case of making up a replacement female threaded bit. I used EN24T as I has a handy 1" diameter bar to hand. Drilled through and counter bored as one end is 3/4 UNF female and the other is 7/16 UNF female.
My seal was in fact rather distorted so I turned up a replacement from PTFE, and as it happened, my set came with a spare 7/16UNF actuator bolt.
Then I split a rusty M20 nut on a farm gate pivot just because I could
