How's it going anyone have any idea what's wrong with my welder on the highest setting 5 and 6 it won't weld works perfectly in 1 to 5.

Could be faulty contacts on the rotary power selector switch, or loose terminal screws on links or transformer tapping wires at that switch.
Does the switch mechanical action seem different when you step up to those last positions?

Most likely the rotary switch.

If it's a SWP 280/4 then it's a diagram like this, but the switch has 8 positions, not 6... maybe a different machine?
