Switch arcing

Not sure where to post this so I thought I'd go for the brew room!

I've just fitted a new no volt release switch to my bandsaw (part of the start button broke on last one) and I notice that when the contacts touch there is some arcing which cant be good. I'm now thinking is there a way of reducing the arcing or is it normal?

providing the switch is the correct amperage for the job u will get arcing on all switches to a small degree

I was going to suggets a snubber but apparently they don't work over 2A which is news to me!

As BS says, as long as the contacts are rated for the job don't worry.

I changed some motor contactors yesterday (not for contact failure) and stripped down the old ones, the contacts showed signs of burning but I worked out they had operated approximately 600,000+ times during their lifetime!

ta for replies, its rated at 6amp and the motor plate rating is 2.6amp so should be ok
