Perhaps because it is mainly hidden i never got around to tidying up my rear door mounting on the second hand Mantec rear wheel carrier i picked up about 14 years ago.
As I got married yesterday, this was a wee job between the ceremony and celebrations.....
As well as rust there was a crack travelling through the pressing:
I ran a bead of weld down it about 10 years ago:
So decided to make a new one from 2mm sheet:
I managed to bend the edges, though the stud monuting area i made from a sandwich of 3 squares of 2 mm sheet on top of the mounting.
I turned down some stainless studs:
Ant tacked them into position:
I welded the plates together and onto the mounting ( pretty rough job, do not think I have used the welder for a year!):
Then a coat of primer then paint and polished up the stainless bolts:
And all back together:
