Swarfega........?

The last of my stock of 'ex-works' orange Swarfega has expired.

Do I just put my hand in my pocket and replace it or have things moved on to better products

Costco sell the Swarfega Orange with cornmeal, it's cheap in there. I'm sure it's less than £10 for 4L

It's what I use and it's very good plus it doesn't upset sealife like the ones with plastic granules.

Pirtek the hydraulic factor supplier, sells a white hand cleaner with some form of grit in it, the best hand cleaner I've used, imo.


Just purchased a new tub for £8.00....

It's worth checking what the grit is because some hand cleaners and some beauty products contain fine plastic grit which makes it's way into the sea and is ingested by marine life.

Cheap tescos washing up liquid,cheap tescos cream cleaner(i like the lemon one best),some cheap anti bug hand cleaner,all mixed in a bowl/tub whatever,bingo,clean hands

One thing I like about the Swarfega Orange is you can wash your hands with it several times a day and your hands don't end dry and sore

I have a big tub of orange swarfega in the bathroom and its rubbish may aswell use hand soap from tesco
As way a massive tub of thick yellow stuff
Have some cheap yellow very liquidy stuff in the workshop from the budget tool van and it cleans of caked in grime off that the swarfega hadnt toched the niggt before
Will not be buying swarfega again but unfortunately have quite a bit left

E45 goes a long way at the end of the day

buy some barrier cream and use it then just use fairy liquid washing up liquid

Really? I've been through a few 4L tubs and find it very good, with the orange scent it even gets rid of diesel smell. I can't believe anyone could describe the stuff I use as rubbish.

Its rated rather poorly on auto express and a few other places as well i ihink its fine if you can wash your hands straight after a mucky task but if washing at the end of the day there are far better ones available

This is for swarfega heavy not classic dont know if classic is better

I hate to say it but times have moved on and I don't need aggressive hand wash (or dermatitis!) These are brilliant, I always use them for any mechanical work.

Now that i wear gloves at work i rarely need to wash my hands
In the good old days it was the washing off tank "dirty paraffin" a bit of saw dust and dry them with news paper

Aldi washing up liquid, bit of coal grit off the forge if needed and a bucket of rainwater is what I use, prefer rainwater to mains as it's softer and cleans better.
