swapping Ford tape/radio for Ford Cd/radio

Does anyone know if its anything like a straight swap for these two car audio units, into my Fiesta ?

Yes it is. I have done this twice putting a ford 6000cd player into an 98 Escort and then transplanted it again to a 51 Focus. The connectors on the back are all the same.

Hi Zardoz,

I would have thought there wouldn't be any problem, there is no external amplification so the plugs around the back should just be mains & speakers, if you have the key to release the unit you would see at a glance the connections at the rear of the unit.

yep as above aslong as youv got the code for the 6000 it should go straight in

We use the bent coathanger release method. I disconnected the battery on mine and lost the code years ago and when I was taking it out to get it swapped the code was written on it in felt pen so someone had obviously had the same problem.

if you dont have a code just ring a ford dealer with the radio serial number and they should be able to give you the code

Its no problem. someone on here kindly gave me the code a few weeks back

My dad has Mondeo and when he did something, or let the ford garage do something, involving removing the battery, the radio needed the code. Ford charged him to get the radio working, but they didn't give him the code!

What so if he lost the connection to the battery again. He'd have to go back to them to pay another fee ? Nice customer service. (NOT)

Tell him he can get codes on here for free.
