Swapped from co2 to argoshield light wow !

Thought i would pick up a proper bottle of gas for my mig and i must say what a massive difference over the co2 pub gas
Much better penetration ,cleaner weld and also seems a lot cooler when welding thin panel steel
First bit on to high a voltage 2nd on lowest setting on 1mm steel welding face then third picture is underside

Won't have better penetration than co2. the co2 adds heat to the weld pool, but not as well as oxygen which is why the put it in some mixes for thicker material.

I find Argoshield Lite is lovely to weld with. I get great looking welds with full penetration. Worth spending the extra on in my humble opinion.

CO2 puts about twice as much heat into the weldpool as O2. All the gases for MAG welding steel have around 2% O2 in them regardless of what thickness they are intended for.

CO2 tends to heat the whole body of the weldpool, this is why higher CO2 levels improve penetration and fusion whereas O2 tends to just increase heat on the surface of the weldpool, this improves wetting and the surface profile and helps reduce spatter as it allows more filler wire to be absorbed into the molten weldpool

If you try a run of weld on sheet steel using an Ar/2% O2 mix you will see it runs a lot cooler and smoother than an Ar/2% CO2 mix
