Swan Neck replacement problem

I tried to replace the mig tip on my secondhand 110E. It was difficult to extract the old one and I can see that the threads are spoiled so I cant fit a new one.

So I have a new swan neck. I cant get the old neck out of the head. I have removed the grub screw and the neck liner. The neck just keeps turning, I have tried pulling it whilst twisting round...it is freer now i have soaked WD40 on it but it will not budge.

Any tips, please

Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum!

Take a look at the pics in the link below. The torch is an SIP, but the Clarke should be similar.

You might need to remove all connections to the block, then hold it in a vice with padded jaws for closer inspection. As you are replacing the swan neck, cut away the rubber from the base of the old one, and try to check out what's happening. It could be that the thread inside the block has gone, and the neck is just rotating inside. If that's the case you can either cut away the old swan neck, and check if it's worth re-threading the block inside, or buy another block:http://www.weldequip.com/clarke-gas-valve.htm
You may find them cheaper elsewhere, but check the quality first. Weldequip's stuff is usually good.
