Sure weld

A mate of mine recently baught a sureweld hi strike machine
It,s a 300 amp 1ph
From time to time when you start to weld it will trip the fuses
The main trip is 64 amp and welder sockets are 32 amp
Sometimes just the 32amp will go or all go on 64amp
Even when you hit the trigger it will cut out
Any ideas on the problem

Hi, First off I am not a sparky, so this isn't a definitive answer but I vaguely remember that circuit breakers are available in different classes with different time delays/lag in them so that when something on the circuit switches on and has a higher start up current, then the built in lag stops the circuit breaker tripping for that instant of much higher than normal amperage. It could be as simple as replacing those breakers with higher lag time ones.. Just my 2 cents worth.

MCB's are rated A to D with B being the usual domestic type, look for C or D type for your welder.
