Hi all, well I am not finding the MIG as easy as I thought, seems strange after using 'stick' for so long.I found the flux wire hopeless really, all smoke and spatter......another thing I'm having trouble with is sorting out the settings,it all seems very vague. With the rod welder its nice and simple, you can see and easily adjust the amps but with the mig just switches high low med max, not even sure on the combinations the switches should be in!...and the little instruction book from SIP is crap.
Anyhow enough moaning lol......using the gas is much better than fluxwire and I got a decent run or two on practise sheets, but welding overhead under the morris on the lift today was not good, needed to weld two bolts in place for the gearbox crossmember (supposed to be captive but of course they come loose inside the box section) managed one with the mig did the other with the rod welder, dont find it easy welding overhead!.....more practise...END OF REPORT.
