Suppliers of 6mm mild steel

Hi,

I am looking for some 75mm x 50mm x 6mm mild steel, but all I can find is 5mm. Can anyone suggest a supplier? I only need a couple of meters.

This is the size used on the plans I am working from, it forms part of the suspension of a trailer. I might be able to use 5mm and change the design slightly.

is that '75x6 and 50x6' or a few metres of 75x50x6 plates?

K Steels list both sizes on their stock list so I'd be inclined to ring your local steel stockholders and have a chat. If not, your nearest K Steels is in Rossendale. (I only mention K steels because that's my usual supplier in Huddersfield and they have an online stocklist).

Brundles, rapid metals, eBay...rapid will cut for free but ive noticed you need to spec it over your requirements as ive had a few bits turn up 1-2mm short

50x6 is a standard size in flat strip, buy a long length and cut it into 75mm lengths.

Thats what I thought too.

Lots of various box section for sale on FB marketplace, but even if one can find the right size, it will probably be at the other end of the country.

i still say buy flat bar...think of all the welding practice available while welding it into box section

Didn't think to clarify that box section is what you require?

if its box section you want, you would be better off looking for 2"x3"x1/4"...

50x50x6 is a common size of box section.
Never seen 75x50x6 before.
