Supplier for gas springs or struts ?

The gas springs on my Snap-On top box have gone weak so looking for replacements from a supplier with a reasonable price.
Although the body and shaft are a standard size the other dimensions aren't. Won't be bothering Snap-On, not looking for cardiac arrest !!

Anybody have personal knowledge and experience of such ?

i would have thought RS or farnell will do them but still wont be cheap.
How about looking round your local car scrap yard for boot lid struts?

Yup. As long as you don't actually use the tool

My money's on they'll argue wear and tear.

RS & Farnell are going to be expensive, as they are on everything. Did think of a scrap yard trawl but it would be a needle in a haystack job.

Yes, they are amongst the companies I've tried so far. Call me tight but £25 + vat each seems expensive to me ?

Metrol Springs local to me are very good, they will make any length or fitting type up, even had them done while I wait on occasion, just had a couple off 100 stroke ones with relief valve for fine tuning an m6 swivel ends £18 each, so your £25 is not that far out.
