Not sure what you mean, you need the correct dies to make the crimp. So yes they do tend to be pricey, istr I paid 45quid for mine

I find the ratchet ones a bit big and cumbersome, so generally pick up this type, when doing small terminals

I use the standard non insulated type for multipole connectors, no issues

One thing that isn't immediately obvious is that you crimp the silicon seal in the end of the crimp

suppose if you were good you would get away with using those, think I'll buy the superseal tool!

The profile in the tool is very similar/the same as the standard tool. Unless you are in a rush I would buy the standard one and see how you get on, if you are tinkering to this level then the standard one will be worth having anyway. If it doesn't work on the Superseal then buy the superseal one too. One way you'll be £20 up the other way you'll have an extra tool, that's a win win in my book

I've been through a few pairs of eco seal pliers and the best I've found are made by facom, generally found on Mac tools vans.
