SuperMig 180/1 torch conversion

Ok so my very tired Supermig 180/1 (same machine as pictured) Torch and line could do with replacing.
So has anyone done a conversion on one of these machines ?

Looking at a Binzel or Euro style torch.
Replaced the liner a few years ago but she tends to stick very easily these days and a quick twist of the torch/lead and the wire pops out again, Maybe wondered if the drive motor is lacking in... Well drive, and a new torch would not cure my issues ?

Edit, I just Googled and found you can get steel liners.Ummm

I am in the process of converting a Mightymig 130XT at the moment. I did a bit of browsing on here and had a rough idea of what to look for... If you have a bit of electrical knowledge and a test meter its a piece of cake. I cant imagine there is too much difference between these older sealeys?

Does yours already have a gas solenoid?

If the Solenoid is there then the hard parts done (i think)
Fitting a euro connector shouldn't be too strenuous... i'm still waiting for mine to turn up!

How did the conversion go ?

Was slightly nervous connecting it up and pulling the trigger.
It works perfectly. Brother in law and myself have since repaired my Rusty BMW with it and he prefers it to his welder at work. (he does car repairs for a living, but his boss is tight and he has to make do with a Sealey)

Fitting a Euro Torch to an old tired 130Amp Sealey might seem like over kill. But the Unit itself was free so £90 to convert it to a nicer setup has to be worth it? I also fitted a removable ground lead and converted to full size bottle setup.

Ive also been toying with the idea of moving the Power lead to the rear of the unit. I have it on a SIP trolley and it just seems like a more sensible idea to have it out the back.

How did you get on??

Had to modify this quite alot to get it all fitted but it works perfectly.

Being an electrician by trade i had access to some 16mm cable so i re-made both the power and ground cables inside the machine as well.

I didn't get round to it been to busy but I've ordered the conversion kit to get it done, Some times you just have to make time lol

The welder is an old friend I purchased new years ago and she's had some hammer but keeps on welding, It's the Torch I feel has seen better days so an upgrade is now in progress, I have a few Sealey tools I purchased years ago (25+) and I get the feeling they were better quality then than now.

Hi did you manage to fit the euro torch on the sealey 180/1 .I'm looking at doing it on mine but only see 1 wire going to the machine. We're as 2 come from the euro connection have you any advice thank you

You have to run a wire from the rectifier +ve terminal (i.e. where welding voltage cable attaches) to the other Euro pin.
