Ah Guzzis-great memories, saw one of these parked up t'other day http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/BIKES/REVIEWS/moto_guzzi_v7_racer_expert_review.html looke nice, but can't help thinking it looked a bit "soft" when you think of the look of the first Lemon and its bleedin great carbs with the grill on the bellmouths to stop small children getting sucked into the engine.
Not that this bike is Lemon rep of course, but given the choice think I'd want an original Le Mans or V7-but then-wot price would one o them be going for now?

I agree the more recent crop are very soft-looking, and even the edge that is given is not doing it for me. The proper V7, though rounded, was sparse and meaningful, it naturally lead to the LeMans. Mind you the naysayers when the LeMans2 appeared hated the fairings and the sports-tourer 'downgrade'. I loved the LeMans3 look, but the 4 and 5 failed for me.

I dare not look up prices for LeMans and V7s these days, probably £5-8000 for a nice one. Still not going to look.

Well, I have seen one over the top price for a Mk 1 but I have an idea I know who is selling it , and I would not buy it even if I had the money, as it would stick in my throat every time I rode or looked at the bike in my garage.
But, tell ya what, as I dream and browse about earlier bikes, there are some bosting buys out there if you go for more recent stuff- like the first fireblade, but also duke 916 and 748, and some Triumph speed and Street Trips, the Street Triple tugs at my bank balance every time I see one at a tasty price, but then again...............;

Made me look, git. LeMans looky-likey, LeMans2 and LeMans3. Still cheaper than the Laverdas.

To be truthful, I like lazy, not sure how I would, could, deal with a modern bike now.

good call on the "classic" dukes Norlander. heres mine I rescued from a race rep sticker fanatic who'd dropped it down the road a few times. Took nearly 2 years to get it back to something more in keeping with the marque

Yeah, looks better without the stickers.I had one of the first 916s in the UK. I traded in my 900SS (belt drive cams) which I had tuned/tweaked and fettled to the nth degree.After 1month, I went searching for my old 900SS, but she had been sold and the buyer did not want to sell.
So, I got up early one Saturday morning and did a make or break ride on the 916. It all gelled, head down, rse up, chuck it in on the brakes and nail the throttle out.Nothing, absolutley nothing, beats the buzz you get when you are on the enema strip of the rear tyre and a duke hooks up and fires you out onto the next bend.
I changed to a 748, it proved to be the business for the public roads. Then.....there was the 748SP ooooooooooooooooh yes-that can only come from Bologna.
