For 13 years I worked in social services, paying into the government superanuation pension scheme.

Does anybody have any idea what effect the curent changes in pensions etc will make to this? will it just cease to exist? and how would I go about claiming it back.

I have browsed the net and found nothing about this business.

Get a Financial Advisor. Ask around first and find a good one. Take your time, I did and I was amazed how much money Ive got that I didnt know I had.

Seriously well worth it. They will take a percentage but I would have gladly paid double what I paid.

enter your details and they will send you a list of whose running your pensions now.

It's then up to you to contact the schemes directly.

One of the changes that came on 6th April was minimum age for early retirement changed from 50 to 55 . My understanding is the government will not make changes to adversley affect benefits already accrued as far as I know , thats as good as money in your bank ( probably better when you consider the state of the banks ) but anyone still in the superan scheme or new joiners will get reduced benefits on contributions from some time soon . I would leave your money in the scheme rather than transfer the value to a personal pension , the government can mess with the scheme and for sure its not going to be what it was but they cant do as bad a job as the private sector whose incompetant thieving managers will find ways to take as much as they can in charges .
