sump guard plans/dimensions

any one got any plans for a landrover discovery sump guard or any measurements of one,i want to try and make the missus one instead of buying one,gonna try and make it out of 2mm galv that i got lyin around,any help would be greatly appreciated.if anyuone can help ill post up some pics as i make it .ta andy

Total waste of time making it out of 2mm plate NEEDS to be 5MM minimum Unless its just for show,,,

my dad has a sump guard on his defender as he has had bits of angle iron go through the sump i dont know the dimensions though

might be a steering guard then bobtail,im a bit of a dunce when it comes to cars i normally stick to me bikes,i can just about cope with bikes

More likely to be a steering guard, you will be doing well to damage the sump without making a mess of anything else first! They are pretty simple to make from a 6mm sheet of steel or 8-10mm sheet of ally. You will need to make some hangers to drop down from the chassis to mount it onto though. If you google steering guard for disco then im sure plenty of examples will come up.
2mm galv will be a waste of time!
