Summer school on the modelling of welding

I wanted to let you all know about a Summer School that you might be intersted in:

Leading Edges in Welding: Summer School in Modelling of Welding
30 July - 2 August 2012, TWI Ltd, Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge CB21 6AL

Programme
The programme will include the following lectures in the morning and practical sessions in the afternoon. Lectures will be given by international experts in industry and universities covering the theory and application of
modelling modern welding techniques. Afternoons will be dedicated to providing hands-on experience with the relevant computer programmes to simulate key phenomena in welding.

If I was paying that price, I would at least hope for some kind of recognised certificate or it be a completed unit towards one of the larger TWI qualifications. I guess though it would appeal more towards the higher technical end of the industry rather than the hobbyist or small engineering setup.

Don't bank on it you probably have to find your own lodgings!

yeah just checked the links it covers food and board some international speakers too by the looks of it could be interesting for those looking towards the academic side of the industry.

With a fair bit of previous knowledge on training course costs and considering a lot of courses are 'lectured to only' with no hands on the equipment, I think it's a decent enough price if food and board are included.

Would be nice if there was at least an attendance certificate of some sort for the CV portfolio.

For us tight fisted Cumbrians however, we would be expecting to take home the MIG at the end of the course.

thanks for your honest input
Yes, the cost is all-inclusive of food and board and accommodation. If you think a certificate of attendance would be useful, I am sure that can be arranged.
It is leaning towards the academic (modelling) side of welding, but I think a tour of the facilities at TWi is included.
I am just trying to publicise it to interested folks where possible.
