Summat a bit different

hi guys, I thought I would post up one of the “ongoing” jobs I have at the moment. This is a German Tromell from around 1995. The poor old thing is tired out but for some reason they keep asking for it to be resuscitated. When it turned up it screeched like a banshee due to the screening drum bearings being shot to bits. It has an air cooled Hatz Deutz engine coupled up to a large genny which runs the tromell on 3 phase elektrickery. The main lower conveyor chewed the bearings up in the idler roller so to get access to it you need to take the thing apart. The bearing housing looks to be chewed up and the adjustable slides have been welded in instead of bolted so a job for the plasma cutter in a bit.

What does it actually do? From the last pic it would seem, from the two belts, that it has some segregating capability?

It looks like one of those noisy machines that turns demolition waste into hard core and screens it. There was one near here when the local council yard was demolished and you could hear it from a mile away.

That’s the very machine, demo waste is fed in one end and it separates the soil out. Oversize (bricks concrete etc) wood paper plastic trundles off on a different belt. Then the waste is separated again. Wood, hardcore, plastics. Cardboard and paper is removed before going thru the machine as is bulky ply wood, doors etc

It is indeed one of the smaller ones, a little while back they had a Terex Finlay 883 in there, now that was a beast and took no prisoners. This old Beyer is knocked about and should really be put out to pasture but as long as they keep paying me to keep it running who am I to argue with them. There have been a string of fixes all with pics to keep a record for him as to whats been done
