Suggestions on how to weld this box section up.

It looked like this when the wing came off, and I removed some poor quality bodged weld repairs.

I removed the top section.

Cleaned up the rotten metal.

Patched the hole in the firewall.

Now I need to repair the box section.

Should I do it this way with a couple of patches like this.

Or one piece along the front and one on the bottom?

im not good at welding but from looking at your pic its a box section it would be better to have the fold in it to add structure to it so in one piece would be better

but there are good welders on here wait for a better reply

As above....spend some extra time to get the bends right and make it in one bit before fitting.

not any thing to do with what you have done but is it me or the pic showing the holes(onboth sides) they are not at the lowest point so all the water can run out ?

The big holes are for wax injection I have left a hole in the near corner and I'll leave a hole at the back of the weld still to be done to allow water to drain.

Here is a pic from the other side of the car, you can see the original drain channel on it with a bit of wire through it.

Next job it to weld the "horn" back on, it doesn't really fit well anywhere as its an aftermarket part, will have to do a fair bit of fettling.

That looks like a good job, and the better way of doing it.
