I'm in need of the greater wisdom...
The picture shows a crack and a small piece missing on a hollow brass tube measuring about 1" diameter with a wall thickness of approximately 1mm.
The tube is fixed to a extruded section with some type of welding. The crack is through thd hollow brass tube not the join. This all forms a window surround to a pre war car im restoring so can't be replaced.
Whilst cracked the parts are not loose
I'm expecting this to be outside my skill level whilst I'm fine with mig and just about ok with tig on steel I have not attempted anything like this.
This evening I did try to tig some brass sheet which as expecting ended without any glimpse of hope.
Can anyone offer advice or know anyone that can take on this repair ?
I do have an ac/dc tig (sherman 206) so happy to have a go on more scrap. Or would silver soldering be the best option? Ultimately this will all need chrome plating so nut much room for error
Thanks in advance
